A shipment refers to the movement of goods or products from one location to another. A Shipment in Pando constitutes moving a consignment of goods from a source to destination through a designated process, or service. A shipment in Pando encompasses various details and attributes related to the transportation process, such as: 

  1. Shipment Number: A unique identifier assigned to the shipment for tracking and identification purposes. 
  2. Source and Destination: The locations (addresses or location codes) where the shipment originates from and where it is to be delivered.
  3. Shipment Mode: The mode of transportation used for the shipment, such as road (trucking), air, ocean, rail, or intermodal. 
  4. EXIM Type: Whether the type of Shipment is an export or an import 
  5. Incoterm: The Incoterm this shipment falls under. This helps understand the liabilities covered by the shipper and the vendor. 
  6. The type of service this shipment falls under. The service type depends on the mode: 
    • Air: Cargo 
    • Road: FTL, PTL 
    • Ocean: FCL, LCL 
  7. Vendor: The vendor who oversees handling the fulfilment of the Shipment. A vendor can be one of the following: CHA, FF, Drayage partner. 

 

Accessing Shipments in Pando 

To access all Shipment in Pando, go to > SHIPMENTS. This presents the list of all Master Shipments that are available on your Pando account. 


To create a shipment in Pando,  

  1. Go to the Shipments and click the button. This opens the Booking Details page. 

  2. Fill in the necessary fields for your shipment: 
    • Booking Type: Select between Export/Import 
    • Source & Destination: Select the source and destination from the dropdowns respectively. You also use filters to toggle between Ports, Suppliers, Consignees, and Warehouses.  

      Note: Both Source and Destination will have to be configured as masters in the system for them to show up in the dropdown. Be sure to keep your masters to be able to select them
       
    • Service: Choose the service from the dropdown. The milestones and events configured under the service will be used for executing the Shipment. 
      Note: Services will have to be configured in the system to show up in the dropdown. Refer this article to learn how to create a service.
       
  3. Fill in the package details: 
    • Weight
    • Volume
  4. Assign Container: Choose the container type that will be required to move the shipment. Pando supports the most common container types. Fill in the container number that will be used to carry this shipment.   
  5. Additional Details:  
    • Expected Date of Delivery: Assign the expected date of delivery. This is to aid with prioritization for the vendor. 

    • Customer Reference Number: Fill in the reference number for the customer. This will help with tracking. 

  6. Click to assign individual milestones for your Shipment.
     
  7. Fill in details for the individual Milestones. Based on the service chosen and the Incoterms applicable, you will be required to assign the Source, Destination, and the Vendor for every milestone. You may also be required to select the Vehicle Type, Container Type. 


  8. Click once you’ve reviewed all the shipment details. This creates the Master Shipment and presents you with a success notification.
